Message from the President                                         December 2019

Greetings to my fellow HR professionals! Wow – what a year! 2019 has proven to be both challenging and fulfilling. I commend your continued involvement with BGSHRM through a booming economy and historic job market. We have entered the 22nd month in a row with unemployment being below 4% - a 50 year low.  I applaud you strong professionals – you have managed to elevate our profession in this incredible market and have helped drive us into a promising 2020. Additionally, you have been the reason for BGSHRM’s impressive year. You all have shown a dedication to your professional development as attendance at BGSHRM meetings and events continues to hold strong and our membership growth endures. Your tenacity is recognized and appreciated!

Some of the new opportunities provided this year included a Newsletter, a  Fitness Challenge to benefit SHRM Foundation, a Membership Drive and social event , a Wellness Fair, a new extended Legal Update Session  followed by a group outing to Keeneland, a 2-hour Diversity and Inclusion session, and a Holiday Party to benefit SHRM Foundation. I am delighted to announce that BSGHRM was able to make a RECORD donation of $15,000 to the SHRM Foundation due to your continued support. Thank you! Furthermore, in an effort to enrich the professional development of our member base, BGSHRM has initiated a Certification Scholarship for the first time ever! This will be awarded to a BGSHRM member in 2020. Likewise, we have expanded our board to include a Workforce Committee. The 2019 Board of Directors truly exceeded my expectations and proved to be an active and committed group that is consistently working towards serving our members. I have absolutely no doubt that they will accomplish amazing feats in 2020.

As I write my final President’s Message for 2019, I have mixed emotions. I am sad to see my term end as it has been incredibly fulfilling and a growth experience for me. I am also proud of each of you and the Board of Directors and excited to see where you will lead our organization next year. I have appreciated your support during my leadership journey as President and owe any successes BGSHRM has had this year to all of you.

Thank you for your commitment to Bluegrass SHRM. Thank you for this experience.  Thank you for allowing me to serve this honorable organization. I am humbled and proud.

Wishing each of you a happy, healthy and safe Holiday season! I hope 2020 is your best year yet!

Best Regards,
