It has been brought to our attention that not all applications were received for the inaugural BGSHRM Certification Scholarship Program. We have determined this was as a result of an issue with our email system, that has since been resolved. We have also identified a plan to prevent lost communications from occurring again in the future. This change in our manner of communications will have no negative impact on you.

However, due to the potential negative impact upon those of our members who submitted scholarship program applications which were not received, we are providing those members with an additional opportunity to resubmit their applications for review. We do want to make clear however, that we are not opening a new window for new scholarship application submissions. This action is to rectify the submission process from the scholarship window that has already closed.

What does this mean to you?

    1. If you did not originally submit an application for the BGSHRM Certification Scholarship Program prior to or on the submission deadline of January 3, 2020, no further action is needed on your part.

    2. If you did submit an application for the BGSHRM Certification Scholarship Program prior to or on the submission deadline of January 3, 2020, please resubmit your application as follows:

    a. Forward your original submission email to the Certification Chair at certification@bgshrm.org no later than February 26, 2020.

    b. The Certification Chair, Heather Humphreys, will respond to you via email to notify you that your application has been received within five (5) working days. Should you not hear from the Certification Chair within five (5) working days, please contact her directly at (740) 416-4840.

    The next steps?

    1. Upon receipt of the additional applications, the BGSHRM Board of Directors will meet to discuss the next steps. We will take into consideration the number of additional applications received, our fiscal responsibility to the chapter, and the evaluation criteria.

    2. The current scholarship recipients are in no way impacted. The full scholarships that they received will remain intact.

It is our intention to continue this program, as we believe certification is very important to SHRM, BGSHRM, and our members. If you would like to learn more, please click here.

Your membership and support are equally important to us and we deeply regret that this process did not occur as smoothly as we would have liked, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

As always, we thank you for your continued support and look forward to an enriching and successful 2020.

On Jan. 31, 2020, USCIS published the Form I-9 Federal Register notice announcing a new version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, that the Office of Management and Budget approved on Oct. 21, 2019. This new version contains minor changes to the form and its instructions. Employers should begin using this updated form as of Jan. 31, 2020.

The notice provides employers additional time to make necessary updates and adjust their business processes. Employers may continue using the prior version of the form (Rev. 07/17/2017 N) until April 30, 2020. After that date, they can only use the new form with the 10/21/2019 version date. The version date is located in the lower left corner of the form.

You may have heard that there will be construction on Manchester Street starting Monday November 11th. Detours will be in place but if you want to get here faster, just head in from Oliver Lewis Way!

You will still be able to easily access our building and our parking lot and we will be posting any necessary updates on social media over the coming months.

Right now you may see a “road closed” sign on Manchester at Oliver Lewis Way, but that’s only to through traffic. You can still get to our parking lot.

Lexington officials say they will have the latest detours posted on the Waze traffic app for your smartphone.
