    You may have heard that there will be construction on Manchester Street starting Monday November 11th. Detours will be in place but if you want to get here faster, just head in from Oliver Lewis Way!

    You will still be able to easily access our building and our parking lot and we will be posting any necessary updates on social media over the coming months.

    Right now you may see a “road closed” sign on Manchester at Oliver Lewis Way, but that’s only to through traffic. You can still get to our parking lot.

    Lexington officials say they will have the latest detours posted on the Waze traffic app for your smartphone.

    Here are a few things for you to know:

    If You Are Attending the Chapter Meeting and Riding the Shuttle:

    1.  You will receive your Keeneland Grandstands ticket when you check in for the meeting.  Please see Leslie Moore. 

    2. The Shuttle will begin boarding at 12:15pm in front of The Grand Reserve following the end of the Chapter Meeting.

    3. The shuttle will leave The Grand Reserve PROMPTLY at 12:30pm.

    4.  When you arrive at Keeneland, please listen to the driver as he will tell you where to meet in order to ride the shuttle back to The Grand Reserve.  The shuttle will depart Keeneland PROMPTLY at 4:30pm. 

    There will not be a BGSHRM Board Member to ensure everyone is on the shuttle, so please make sure you and your friends are back on the shuttle no later than 4:30pm.  


    If You Are Attending the Chapter Meeting and Are NOT Riding the Shuttle:

     1.  You will receive your Keeneland Grandstands ticket when you check in for the meeting.  Please see Leslie Moore.

    2.  There is no reserved parking for BGSHRM at the track, you will need to park on your own.


    If You Are Not Attending the Chapter Meeting, But Will Be Attending the Keeneland Social Only:

    1.  You will receive your tickets at the Keeneland Will Call window.

    2.  There is no reserved parking for BGSHRM at the track, you will need to park on your own.

    Department of Labor Salary Exemption Rule: 

    Department of Labor issued a final change to the salary exemption rule, changing the cutoff from $455 per week to $684 per week ($23,660 to $35,568).  The new rule becomes effective on January 1, 2020. Additional information can be found at https://www.dol.gov/whd/overtime2019/index.htm.

    EEO1 Comp 2 Report:

    Letters have been generated and the EEO1 Comp2 report is out and now accepting submissions.  There is an option to upload a .csv file for efficient submissions, 2017 and 2018 must be submitted separately.  The deadline for completion was 9/30/19.  EEO has announced that they are strongly considering not making this an annual requirement due to the labor intensive responsibility it places on employers.

    Security/OSHA Updates: 

    If you do not already have a strong safety plan in place, you should do so immediately and ensure that Active Shooter Training is included.  The Department of Homeland Security has a free training available on their website at https://www.dhs.gov/cisa/active-shooter-preparedness. Also, just a reminder that there are protections for gender neutrality now included in OSHA regulations – especially concerning restroom utilization. 

    Upcoming update to the W-4:

    There is a pending update to the W-4, which is set to be released sometime before spring of 2020.  It lengthens the W-4 to several pages, and includes the bracket as a requirement, where it used to be for reference.

    We are entering the home stretch for Membership Referral Program! It is easy to participate, simply encourage your colleagues, students, customers, vendors, and other interested parties to join Bluegrass SHRM and enjoy the same great benefits you do!

    Each new member you refer qualifies as an entry into a drawing for chances for one of two (2) possible of a free Yearly membership renewal for January 2021.

    Rules of the contest:

    • Members need not be present to win

    • Yearly drawings will be at the December program meeting

    • Each new member counts as a separate entry into each of the yearly drawings

    • There is no limit to the number of members you can refer.

    • The new member must declare the referring member in the "Referred By" section of their application

    • The referring member must be an active member at the time the referral completes their application and at the time of the year-end drawing

    • A new member is any person who has never been a member of SHRM of Bluegrass SHRM

    • Referral Program ends November 1, 2019.

    • Bluegrass SHRM reserves the right to change this program at any time.

    Dues are only $50.00 per calendar year for National SHRM members and $75.00 for Non-National SHRM members. You may also choose you pre-pay for meals for the year along with your membership dues. Credit card payments are accepted online.

    Current members of Bluegrass SHRM will be entered into a drawing for each new member you refer. The winner will be announced at our November Chapter Meeting (November 12, 2019).

    New Members: to apply, simply click here. If new members apply before midnight November 1, 2019, the referring members name will be entered in a drawing for a prize!

    • New members registering will need to enter the referring members name (first AND last name) at the bottom of their online application. You will be entered into a prize drawing for EACH new member you refer (refer 5 new members, get entered 5 times!)
